[ laughter ] then i go, "well no, well that's - he's a doctor. and he does -- well, that's different some business news i saw that google is buying fitbit for $2 billion. it's not a done deal yet google says it still needs to work out the next 10,000 steps >> steve: oh [ laughter ] [ cheers and applause come on. >> jimmy: finally, you guys, i saw that today is national saxophone day. were a tour guide. >> yeah, well -- kind of >> jimmy: kind of. the travel show. >> with the travel show. yep, yep, yep. >> jimmy: then i found out you used to interview -- >> i used to be on that end of the interview, sort of i used to go to red carpet events and stand in line and wait for stars to come past. and kind of call their name and ask for interviews and, yeah. and then i made the switch to sort of be on the red carpet on that side. >> jimmy: who was the biggest celebrity you interviewed? do you remember? >> i covered all of the "harry potter" stuff. so daniel radcliffe when he was sort of, like, quite young at that time. >> jimmy: yeah >> i used to sort of be infatuated with him. [ light laughter ] and just, like, i remember just, like, shaking nervously. just, like, sort of asking these questions. and waiting in those hot rooms and sort of interviewing all of these amazing people >> jimmy: did you ever think that you would be on the other side >> never never once did it cross my mind >> jimmy: really >> but -- but you know what? it was a shift it sort of -- when the opportunities came, when i switched from hairdresser to become a sort of presenter, it
was literally me focusing on that particular goal you know it's almost -- we'd go around with blinkers on our eyes. >> jimmy: yeah, sure >> and we sort of focusing on one thing. but something brighter and bigger and better is just off to the side. but we're like, "no, no, no. this is my path. this is my path. so luckily i was able to switch that >> jimmy: so what is your advice to anyone who wants to switch careers >> just -- it could be simple as just introducing yourself as who you want instead of, "hi, i'm henry the hairdresser. "hi, i'm henry the presenter." or now, "hi, i'm henry the actor. which is amazing >> jimmy: just say that. [ laughter ]
and so i turn up for work. >> jimmy: for yogurt with him, yeah >> i turn up for work. and i'm sat in the -- in the sort of makeup chair and, "oh, he's coming in he's going to be in any minute now. and i hear the door open he comes through i'm like, "oh, this is my moment." i'm like, "matthew, i'm henry. and he just looks at me with this, like, killer stare and he's like, "i'm mcconaughey. [ light laughter ] and i was just like, "whoa, no." and then no one told me that he stays in character and our characters, like, hate each other so i thought he hated me [ laughter ] and my world just imploded and we're not -- >> jimmy: i didn't know he's a a really method actor. >> but you know what like, the days that we didn't have any scenes together, he's the most loving and giving person >> jimmy: yes. >> he was super, super nice. so it was just literally the days that i really wanted to be best friends, i couldn't, so [ light laughter ] tell him i send my love. >> jimmy: i will, yeah >> if you remember to. >> jimmy: did you ever get to meet his brother at all? does he comes to the set >> no, no. >> jimmy: so he's a character. >> oh, really. >> jimmy: oh, you've got to meet his brother that's the secret move >> is it all secretly you? or is it -- does he actually have a brother [ laughter ] >> jimmy: i could play - >> is this another thing that --?

[ laughter ] >> absolutely. >> jimmy: let's talk about "last christmas. >> yes >> jimmy: because i love a good holiday movie. i love a good romcom it's very -- it's got -- >> it's beautiful. >> jimmy: it really does - >> it is so amazing. >> jimmy: -- tug at the heart strings. and it's kind of -- it's based off of the wham song "last christmas. >> that's right. >> jimmy: that was how it was inspired because they go, "we need a new holiday film." >> mm-hm >> jimmy: but then emma thompson went in and got all these songs. >> oh. >> jimmy: you got george michael's permission to use all of george michael's songs. >> it starts >> jimmy: and it's -- and it works. >> and emilia actually covers a tremendous amount of that. and she has one of the most fabulous singing voices. people who are "game of thrones" fans will never ever look at daenerys the same way because she's so lovely in this >> jimmy: yeah she is great and you're mr. smooth in this movie. >> i'm fairly, fairly smooth, i suppose. [ light laughter ] >> jimmy: are you like that in real life. >> i would like to think so. i'm not sure if -- maybe my wife would say i need to be smoother

understand what they are asking me 'cause i have to learn english. and then, i couldn't sleep it was a quite intense movie so i was up in the nights and watching american late shows and reading papers and trying to get into the language >> jimmy: that's wild. where originally were you from originally i'm swedish, spanish my dad was a spanish flamenco singer my mom's swedish, my step dad icelandic. so i have a strange mix. >> jimmy: wow. >> yeah. >> jimmy: how fun. >> yeah. >> jimmy: and do you get to come to new york often >> yeah, i have a lot of friends here i come as much as -- i shot two movies here. and then, i come whenever i can. but you know, what's funny, i heard you talk about the red sauna, the infrared sauna. >> jimmy: yes. >> yeah. >> jimmy: yeah, you know that? >> yeah. >> jimmy: oh, sweet. >> i do that i do that. do you know why? >> jimmy: yeah, you live in one probably, yeah >> yeah, yeah. [ laughter ] >> that was -- that was -- >> jimmy: not my show. yeah, that wasn't me >> that was not from you that was someone else. >> jimmy: wait, so you go in this thing and freeze yourself >> yeah. >> jimmy: and then - >> so it's basically my swedish side is the cold side. and the spanish is the infrared so i go -- i merge those two sides. >> jimmy: wow, i'm going to do that >> yeah. >> jimmy: i want to talk to you about something. because i heard that you throw really good parties, really fun parties. >> oh, yeah, i do. >> jimmy: that's the word on the street >> that is, yeah >> jimmy: what makes a -- what makes a good party >> a wig [ laughter ] >> jimmy: a wig is - >> yeah. >> jimmy: that's your secret >> so basically, i don't know how it started i think i was like -- i was stuck in myself, maybe six years ago. and it was like -- it needed something to get out of my -- you know, people think i'm quite serious and that i'm always angry and quite badass. and i'm not. >> jimmy: yeah you're like, "i'm just acting. >> yeah. but i like -- i need this kind of little bridge to kind of, you know, to get out of my shell. so i started wearing wigs. and then i started doing wig parties at my house.
and then i have one rule you have to -- you can't come into my house unless you're wearing a wig. so i did a wig party maybe a a year ago and my friend, who directed a movie with me in new york called "the drop," - >> jimmy: oh, yeah >> with me and tom hardy, yeah so michael, the director, traveled in from belgium, came, was outside ringing the door i looked off from the top floor. and i was like, "he's not wearing a wig. and i called him and was like, "you can't come in." [ light laughter ] and he was like -- he was like, "nooms, but i came all the way from belgium." i was like, "you're not wearing a wig. so i had to throw a wig out from the top floor >> jimmy: you have -- you have spare wigs >> i have a box of 50 wigs [ light laughter ] i have one for you would you -- are you up for a wig? will you wear a wig for me [ cheers and applause >> jimmy: oh, my gosh. you actually did bring these wigs >> so, i've got to tell you. so i went out wig shopping today to be honest you have this little cutie [ laughter ] it's a little bit like sia, right? >> jimmy: okay, yeah >> i think it's called a pop wig. and then, this one is really cute, too.
